Finchcocks is delighted to host a concert in aid of DEC Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal.
Held in the beautiful main hall of the manor house on the family Bosendorfer, music will include Mozart’s Piano Trio in C major (K.548), Three Miniatures for Violin, Cello and Piano by Frank Bridge, Elegie for Piano, Violin and Cello (Op. 23) by Josef Suk and Schubert’s Piano Trio in B flat Major (Op. 99)
Rosemary Gilbart-Smith began learning the violin at age 8. When she was 16 she won an Associated Board scholarship to study performance at the Royal Academy of Music. On graduation she briefly joined the BBC Concert Orchestra before transferring to the BBC Symphony Orchestra, which took her to many interesting parts of the world. Rosemary then moved into chamber orchestra work. She played with London Primavera for many years, and was a member of the Archaeus String Quartet. She has always enjoyed teaching, notably at Gresham’s School in Norfolk. Rosemary’s interests include gardening, walking and sailing. She is married to George and between them they have 5 children and 14 grandchildren.
Catherine Brooker has known she wanted to be a musician for as long as she can remember and began her musical education with piano lessons at the age of 4. She began learning to play the cello when she was 10 years old. She studied cello and piano performance at the Royal Academy of Music and then went on to study under Leonard Stehn at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. Catherine has a particular love of chamber music and has played in numerous ensembles, eventually founding her own string quartet. She has been involved with the beautiful and successful sacred music by the composer Margaret Rizza, and is the solo cellist on many of her early recordings. Catherine is an experienced teacher of cello and has recently been appointed to teach at Sevenoaks School. She is a keen cyclist and particularly enjoys cycling with her son on their tandem!
Tuck-Kay Loke was born in Malaysia and started playing the piano at the age of six. In 1985 an Associated Board scholarship brought him to London, where he continued his studies at the Royal Academy of Music with Hamish Milne (piano) and Jean Harvey (violin). After graduating with First Class Honours and a Master of Music in Performance Studies, he performed in many London venues (notably the Barbican, St John’s Smith’s Square and the South Bank) as well as regional festivals in the UK. Since moving to Kent with his young family, he has found time to rekindle his passion for music and plays with the Tonbridge Philharmonic Society. Tuck-Kay is a qualified doctor and in his spare time, enjoys making models with the children.
